Speedsters can also take liquid-cooled Subaru high-performance engine which
sits snugly in the rear engine compartment.
An aluminum radiator shroud covers the front-mounted VW Golf radiator (chosen
for ease of replacement) An aluminum gas tank is needed for the Subaru motor
since the fuel injection needs three fuel lines and an electric fuel pump.
A standard Subaru fuel pump is fitted for ease of replacement. The gas tank
can also be used on an air-cooled car. Aluminum tubing runs from the radiator
to the engine (no welds or breaks) & the only rubber hose in the whole
system is a small 4" piece connecting the aluminium tube to the radiator
and the motor to the tube. This gives good long life and uses the entire
car as a heat sink. Most cooling systems drop temperatures around 20 degrees.
This system drops around 60 degrees!
The
instrument cluster includes a speedometer, rpm, gas and temperature gauge.
Illustrated is a 1915cc air-cooled engine . The model shown
is supplied
with a dyno sheet, and fitted with optional dual Weber carbs.
BSC also supply
brand new Factory VW 1600cc single carb engines as fitted to VW beetles
sold in Mexico and South America until 2003.
The engine comes with heater
boxes, electronic ignition and clutch.
A
customer has successfully fitted a Berni Bergman 2442cc air-cooled motor producing
195 hp. Its cooled by a 911 fan and shroud and oil cooler with its own thermostat.
Plus remote oil filter & Weber carbs.

The
BSC Speedster accepts air- or liquid-cooled engines coupled to manual transmission.
BSC can arrange to have a custom, pro-built motor installed on your behalf
and deliver a turnkey car. Naturally, the vehicles performance is up to owner
and budget
All BSC Speedsters are built using new parts mounted on new tubular steel
chassis fitted with gas-filled shock absorbers and have custom adjustable
ride height control. Competing kits based on VW floorpans have a fixed ride
height by virtue of the need to fit stock VW suspension. The BSC chassis means
that BSC Speedsters also have much more legroom than rivals.
The car is supplied with a spare wheel and three-point retractable seat belts.
