The AC MkV is a two-seat, open-top sports car entirely
manufactured by AC Cars Limited. It is NOT a replica.
It is a new car, bearing a genuine AC Cars chassis plate and number, a development
from the original AC ACE and the Le Man's winners upon which AC's post-war
reputation was founded. The MkV shares many of the historic marque's design
features and parts whilst taking the classic, original, 1950's revolutionary
design forward into the 21st century.
The AC MkV is supplied as a complete rolling chassis factory assembled,
painted, upholstered, fully instrumented and with with brakes, suspension,
exhaust, wheels but
without engine or transmission.
Nothing shown on this site should be taken as an offer to sell complete
vehicles.
Owners are free to select, purchase and install any suitable drivetrain. In keeping with a the AC tradition, personal selection creates
a unique vehicle of character. Few of the thousands of cars constructed
over the past 50 years are identical. Each reflects the original owner's
tastes, whims and even fancies. Character's cars.
Owners will of course be offered every assistance in choosing and sourcing
appropriate equipment. AC recommend the Ford Racing 4.6L V8 crate engine.
The chassis will also accept the Ford 302 or 351W crate engines. A list of
recommended third-party installers is available. We can arrange for parts
purchased independently by customers to be fitted to their chassis by a third-party
contractor.
Each chassis is painstakingly hand-crafted to the highest possible standards
from the one-piece carbon fibre body to the leather-trimmed interior.
The MkV carbon fibre body is moulded from the original aluminium body formers
and sits on a chassis formed around steel ‘ladder’ spaceframe
welded to twin 4-inch diameter reinforced cold drawn tubes which form the
chassis' backbone and provided exceptionally stiffness under cornering loads.
The carbon fibre body makes the MkV lighter than the original Cobra and it's
therefore even faster. )-60 mph in around 4.5 seconds!
Tweaks to the chassis and suspension make sure it handles just as well, if
not better than its forebears. Ventilated discs stop the car reassuringly
faster than its ancestor.
